All controllers listed here are tested, cleaned, and sometimes modded to work flawlessly on PC with Clone Hero and other rhythm games. I only post items that I’ve personally verified, and I update this list as new controllers are available.
My aim is to rescue and restore old PS3 controllers. NOTE that I am only selling PS3 controllers. No PS2, no Xbox, no Wii. Just PS3. Why? I’ve only ever used PS3 controllers, and I can confirm they work as expected on PC. What I have available here on this site, is what I have available right now. As I test, repair, and or mod guitars, they will get listed.
My listings are being sold on eBay and my shop on Ko-Fi. Links are included for both eBay and Ko-Fi. Note: I sell the guitars at a discount on Ko-Fi, since the seller fees are much lower. Q: What types of guitars are you selling?
A: Plastic ones of course! I sell guitars meant for PS3, because these are what I know. Some guitars only need testing. I confirm that the guitar and dongle work together. I confirm via PC playing Clone Hero. Some guitars may need light repairs, and those will also include the dongle. However, fully modded guitars will have internals replaced, and will NOT need dongle. Modded guitars will connect to PC via USB-A. Cable included.
Q: What mod kits do you use for modded guitars?
A: Currently, I use RetroCultMods kits. I may source from additional vendors where appropriate/necessary.
Q: What should I know about my guitar?
A: If you purchase an OG guitar that is unmodified, you will need to use batteries and dongle for play (as has always been the case). If you purchase a modified guitar, you will NOT need dongle OR batteries. The controller will connect using USB-C to USB-A cable (included with each purchase). Also, if you receive modded guitar, DO NOT REMOVE NECK, unless you are willing to take that risk. With RGB fretboards, the cables are required to be connected to the main board. As such, the modded controllers will have to arrive fully built with neck attached. I place a sticker on top of the lever that locks the neck as a gentle reminder not to disassemble (unless you are feeling adventurous and accept the risk).
Q: Do you provide warranty?
A: Unfortunately, no. I can’t guarantee the guitars will be used for their intended purpose after they leave me. I do test each guitar, and keep records of testing for my own quality verification. My main goal is to rescue these guitars and keep everyone rockin’ on rhythm games. If you purchase from eBay, both you and I have buyer and seller protections to keep us all happy.
